Would you like to develop your artisctic Skills?

Emma's open studio classes might be different from other classes you have taken, because your work in them is largely self-directed. You have the opportunity to choose your own subject matter, style, media, and working pace. One person may be working on an abstract painting in acrylic, while the person beside her is drawing a  botanical in pen and ink. Some people finish a painting a day, while others spend weeks on a single piece.

Emma will support you in whatever you choose to do, while consistently nudging you to improve your skills, deepen your understanding of design and media, and broaden your confidence as an artist who has a unique vision to share with the world. There is no right or wrong in these classes, only the understanding that it is the practice of sitting down and making time for art every week that allows us to grow.

Class time is spent working, while Emma circulates and gives one-on-one feedback and advice. You will also be encouraged to look to your fellow students for feedback and support. This is a room full of people as invested in their artistic growth as you are – a unique and valuable resource, as well a great deal of fun.

Clssses run 2.5 hours long, and meet weekly (currently, Wed-Fri, daytime). Meetings are either in Emma's Bynum, NC classroom or over Zoom. Cost is $80 per month, with four meetings per month.
